A sharper brand and digital system that turns Greg Wright Architects’ existing reputation into a more distinctive and own-able presence.
We built the new identity around the strongest asset the practice already had: Greg Wright’s name. The result is a restrained, recognisable system that gives the studio greater consistency across brand and digital touchpoints, while keeping the architecture itself firmly at the centre.

A respected practice without a distinctive enough brand
Greg Wright Architects has been operating in Cape Town since 1995, building a substantial body of residential, commercial and public work over more than three decades. The reputation was already there. The challenge was that the brand wasn’t carrying the same sense of authorship, precision and recognition as the architecture itself. For an established studio, that matters. A brand should make the value built over decades easier to recognise — not simply identify the business.

Evolving the brand without erasing its equity
This wasn’t a startup identity where everything could be rebuilt from scratch. Greg Wright Architects already had history, recognition and existing visual cues. The job was to create something more distinctive without disconnecting the practice from what clients already knew and trusted. It also meant resisting a common convention in architecture: relying on a generic acronym-based identity. Instead, we needed to find something more ownable within the business itself.

Building recognition around the name that already carried it
We focused on the strongest piece of brand equity already available: Greg. The identity was distilled into a singular G, constructed from simple geometric forms. A curved element reflects the organic influences present in the studio’s work, while sharper triangular forms introduce the precision and refinement associated with architectural practice. That balance informed the wider system. Generous white space and structured grids give the work room to breathe, while an evolved version of the studio’s existing blue preserves continuity with the past. Fine tapered lines, geometric motifs and references to technical drawing bring a more architectural character into the brand without overwhelming the portfolio. We then carried that thinking into the website, creating a digital experience that feels considered and architectural in its own right. The interface gives projects the space to lead, while the supporting system makes the studio’s work, thinking and experience easier to navigate. The result is deliberately restrained. Rather than competing with the buildings, the brand and website act as a framework around them.

Turning reputation into something more recognisable
The new identity gives Greg Wright Architects a clearer visual signature without asking the practice to abandon the equity it had spent decades building. The website extends that same clarity into the digital experience, giving the studio a more cohesive and professional presence across every major client touchpoint. The shift is subtle but commercially important: the practice now has a system that is easier to recognise, easier to apply consistently and more closely aligned with the level of craft and consideration present in the work itself. Instead of behaving like a decorative layer, the brand now supports the reputation behind it — giving an established practice a stronger foundation for its next chapter.

“Julia and Jordan are 2 wonderful creatives who, as a team, excel at bringing together a brand narrative and results that exceed expectations. There is a quiet confidence, creative depth and conviction in their work, and a pleasure to engage and work with them. Both respond with agility to feedback, and whilst flexible, their clarity and conviction provided an outcome that surpassed any preconceived ideas I might have had at the outset.”
