High-end elegance, sushi and champaign with a victorian twist

The Victoria is a restaurant perched above the iconic Café Caprice on the Camps Bay coastline. A hidden sushi and champagne bar, it exudes understated elegance—drawing inspiration from the Victorian era while weaving in Japanese character and craft. The logo captures this fusion with a playful contradiction: a 1920s-inspired lady lounging in a champagne glass, holding chopsticks and sushi. The color palette was drawn directly from the restaurant’s interiors—satin-green couches, a marble bar counter, and soft peach linens—bringing the tactile richness of the space into the brand. To extend the visual language, we created a series of linocut illustrations depicting whimsical, surreal scenes: maidens holding fish or reclining in seashells. The goal was to craft a sense of heritage and artistry while balancing elegance with a touch of play. The resulting brand aesthetic fuses Victorian sophistication with the craft and curiosity of Japanese culture.
